Course Requirements

This class is for any photographer who wants to improve through direct feedback from Mike MacDonald. The only real requirements are that your images be emailed in advance in the manner and conform to some simple rules.

• IMAGE PREPARATION:
  • DEADLINE: 7 FULL DAYS prior to the session.
  • CHOOSE UP TO 10 IMAGES for the evaluation session
  • FILE NAMES take the form: LastnameFirstname01, LastnameFirstname02, ... LastnameFirstname10
    • Use both UPPER & LOWER case.
    • Example: Mike MacDonald enters 10 pictures called MacDonaldMike01, MacDonaldMike02, ... , MacDonaldMike10
  • RESIZE IMAGES to be NO Wider than 1024 pixels and NO Taller than 768 pixels.
    • Example 1: A horizontally oriented image can be a maximum of 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels tall.
    • Example 1: A vertically oriented image can be a maximum of 768 inches tall and let the horizontal dimension fall as it may. Usually it falls around 512 pixels wide.
  • SAVE IMAGES AS JPEG FILES with a compression level of 60% (7 out of 12, 6 out of 10, or 60 out of 100 depending on your software). Keep each file to between 200 and 400 KB. It's okay to go up to 500 KB on a few.
  • DELIVER YOUR IMAGES BY EMAIL OR MAIL:
    • EMAIL: Send ALL Jpeg Images in one big email. You may ZIP the files if you wish. We want the actual image files, not the images themselves embedded into an email. Note: This has been a problem for people using IPhoto software.
    • MAIL: Burn the Jpeg files onto a CD or DVD and send it to our address so that we receive it by the deadline.
      • Before Sending: Test the CD or DVD and open ALL OF THE FILES for yourself.
